Frost Opener Wizard

1.31 Cryomancer update: The frost ultimate rework (Glacial Storm + Glacial Drag) and the new Winter’s Dominion ring — which makes Cryomancer skills appear and level up far faster — push this build to S+. Winter’s Dominion solves the old “slow to come online” weakness almost entirely — buying and upgrading it (from the Winter’s Dominion chapter offer) is the single highest-impact move in the game right now. Pick up the Frost Prince Ring as your companion ring.

Overview

Frost Opener Wizard is a high-ceiling raid caster that capitalizes on the Wizard Bolt set’s dual expertise tag: every Epic+ piece grants both a Cryomancer AND a Stormlord tag. That means a 3-piece Wizard Bolt setup at Epic+ gives you 6 total expertise tags on day one — 3 Cryo + 3 Storm — putting you past both first breakpoints before a single skill pick.

The resulting synergy: you start the first round already able to cast 2 Ice per round with freeze priority, and the bundle generator starts offering you Cryomancer and Stormlord bundles right out of the gate.

Gear Core

• 3-piece Wizard Bolt (chest + ring + accessory or similar) — the triple-tag seed layer.
• Weapon: Ice Bow (Frost synergy) — turns main attacks into Ice triggers. Alternative: Magic Lute for pure Magic Damage scaling if you want more late-fight ramp.
• Chest alt: If you’re under-geared, swap the 3pc chest piece for Guardian Plate — you lose 2 tags but gain the 10% damage reduction from Tank Shield 2pc. Good progression pit-stop while you farm Wizard Bolt pieces.

Relic Core

• 4-piece Dragon Fire — 20% Magic Crit Damage + 10% conditional Magic Crit at 100% HP. Since you’re in the back line and under the tank’s Guardian Spirit, you should be at full HP for the first 2–3 rounds of every pull.
• 2-piece Serpent Coil — 10% ATK + stacking 5% Magic Damage per round for extended fights.

Relic substat priority: Magic Damage seeds and Magic Crit on Tooth slot. Magic Crit is a separate stat from physical Crit and only rolls on caster substats — don’t miss it.

Pet Team

• King Gloop — Slime Freeze. Non-negotiable for a freeze-focused caster.
• Fae Dragon — Moon Burst AoE magic damage. Scales with your Magic Damage stat.
• Drib (or equivalent neutral slot filler)
• Mount: Pyropod (fire-themed) for magic damage synergy, or Nimbus for Speed gating your Ice cast order.

Skill Priority

1. Glacial Storm (Mythic, S+) — Cryomancer capstone. 2 Ice per round is what the whole build hinges on.
2. Winter’s Embrace (Mythic, S+) — Stormlord capstone that procs on freezes. The dual-tag seeding unlocks this early.
3. Ice Mastery (Legendary, S) — +40% Ice damage.
4. Permafrost (Legendary, A) — frozen enemies take +25% damage; bonus slow on freeze expire.
5. Freeze Slow (Legendary) — extends slow uptime between freezes.
6. Bolt Chain (Legendary) — Stormlord synergy; every bolt jumps to adjacent enemies.

Role Setting

Set role to Wizard. Wizard role adds increased Subzero Field potency (Wizard Bolt 4pc) and biases the bundle generator slightly further toward caster bundles in ambiguous rolls.

The Opening Rotation

Round 1: Ice Volley (from weapon) + Ice Mastery passive = 2 Ice casts, at least one Freeze. Slime Freeze pet adds a third Freeze. Enemy is frozen within 1 round.

Round 2: Glacial Storm fires — another 2 Ice. Permafrost triples stack, frozen enemies take +25% from every source.

Round 3+: Winter’s Embrace starts proccing on your freezes, turning the CC into a damage amplifier that feeds Dragon Fire 4pc’s magic crit.

Tier Rating: S+

Frost Opener Wizard has the highest damage ceiling in the raid-mode meta, and after 1.31 the gear gate that used to hold it back is largely gone. Winter’s Dominion accelerates your Cryomancer skills and level-ups so the reworked Glacial Storm ult lands far sooner, and the Frost Prince Ring supplies the Freeze chance and +25% ATK that the whole rotation leans on. In raid 18+ — and the new high-end Cryo Clash raid tier — a well-geared Frost Opener out-damages any physical DPS setup by a wide margin. With frost dominating the meta, this is the build to chase.
